SANTA MARIA, Calif. -

A group of volunteers including makeup artists, hair stylists and seamstresses are making prom a little bit easier for Santa Maria students.

The project called Cinderella’s Closet, a one day event for girls to pick out jewelry shoes,  a dress, and  to learn tips from experts that can help them save  lots of money for prom. The average cost of prom can be well over a thousand dollars.

Ali Degraffenreed, one of the organizers, said  “We get to help girls feel like princesses today and at prom, if you can do something like this without costing families anything why not.”

Cinderella’s Closet collected more around 500 dresses this year.
