Weekend of Violence in Oxnard Area

OXNARD, Calif. -

Two men are dead and another is in critical condition after three separate shootings in the Oxnard area.

All three shootings happened over the weekend just within a few miles of each other.

The first shooting happened around 8:30 p.m. Friday on the 800 block of Myrna Drive, near Joyce Drive in Port Hueneme.  When officers arrived on scene they found a man who had been shot several times inside a car parked on the street.

While Port Hueneme police were investigating this shooting, another man was shot dead less than two miles away.

"While we were on-scene of our homicide we actually heard the shots ring out, for their homicide since it was so close by,” said Detective Eric Starna with the Port Hueneme Police Department.

Oxnard Police officers were dispatched to the area of Courtland Street and Canterbury way just after ten p.m. Friday.  When Oxnard police arrived on scene they found a 26-year-old man who had been shot several times.

Sunday just after 9:30 p.m., a third man was shot in Oxnard.  The victim in this case was a 23-year old man.  Police say he was shot on the 200 block of West Juniper Street and as of Monday night he was in critical condition.

At this time Oxnard Police do not believe the shootings are related, "The shootings that we have had they don't seam to be connected to one another.  They just seam to be random and unique by themselves,” said Detective Luis McArthur with the Oxnard Police Department.

As of Monday night, police had not identified the victims in all three cases.  Police are still looking for suspects in all the cases.  Police are asking anyone with information to give them a call.  Tips can by anonymously submitted to Ventura County Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8477. Anyone with tips specifically about the murder in Oxnard should call 805-385-7680.  Anyone with tips about the murder in Port Hueneme should contact Detective Eric Starna at 986-6629.
