PORT HUENEME, Calif. -

World Trade Center week didn't go unnoticed in Port Hueneme.

The city is home to the deep sea Port of Hueneme, and the Oxnard Harbor District .

The district recently remodeled an office for the World Trade Center Oxnard.

Wednesday, guests enjoyed a luncheon and a tour of the port.

Kristin Decas, the CEO and port director explained how the niche port specializes in fresh produce and automobiles.

The port imports more than it exports, but Decas said the port is prepared to change that.

Richard Swanson, the regional director for the U.S. Department of Commerce, said businesses on the central coast have an opportunity to grow by exporting goods to China and other countries.

Swanson said exports create higher paying jobs and spur innovation.
