Young Triathletes Raise $12,000 for FoodBank

Two of the youngest triathletes crossed the finish line in Carpinteria Sunday.

The boys made a big difference before their swim, bike and run adventure.

They might have been two of the smallest competitors, but Jacob Mansbach, 9, and Dario de Albergaria, 11, didn't let anything get in the way of them and the finish line.

"Go Jacob! Go Dario!" cheered their families.

"The swim is 500 meters, the bike is 9.3 miles and the run is 3.5 miles," said Jacob before the race.

The course is a feat even for the most seasoned triathletes.

Before the boys suited up, they decided to participate in the Carpinteria triathlon for a good cause.

"To help less fortunate people," said Dario.

"I'm doing it for FoodBank because they help raise money for children and adults who can't afford their food," said Jacob.

The motivated pair set a fundraising goal to give as much as they could to the FoodBank.

"We're trying to raise $10,000 but we beat the goal by $2,000, which is pretty good," said Dario.

As Jacob and Dario pedaled their way to the last leg of the race, and ran to the finish line, they accomplished their goal.
