Rob Ford will no longer be Toronto's mayor as of Dec. 1, but he has won a seat on the city council. Ford withdrew his mayoral re-election bid due to a cancer diagnosis. Ford's brother ran for mayor in his place, but lost to John Tory. Take a look at some of his most shocking quotes.
In March, Rob Ford cast the sole "no" vote on a City Council motion to offer Canada's Olympic and Paralympic athletes congratulations and also voted against naming a Toronto street after the late Nelson Mandela. He later apologized, stating he was stretching his sore back and voted too quickly. "We all make errors," said Ford. "I guess I pushed the wrong button."
In January, a video surfaced which features Ford swearing, mumbling, insulting Toronto's chief of police and speaking in a Jamaican accent at times. "They're chasing me around five months. They're counter surveillance me. He's hiding here. He's hiding here. F--- off," said Ford in the video, apparently talking about the police surveillance on him following his November 2013 admission that he had smoked crack.
On Nov. 5, 2013, Ford admitted to using crack cocaine saying, "Yes, I have smoked crack cocaine. But do I? Am I an addict? No. Have I tried it? Probably in one of my drunken stupors, probably approximately about a year ago."
"I've never said that in my life to her. I’m happily married. I have more than enough to eat at home, thank you very much."
-- Ford responding to an allegation that he propositioned a woman who is not his wife for oral sex.
"I'm going to kill that (expletive) guy. I’m telling you it's first-degree murder...he dies or I die, brother!"
-- Ford in a video that surfaced just days after he admitted to smoking crack cocaine.
"When he’s down, I’ll rip his (expletive) throat out" and "I'll poke his eyes out" and "I’ll make sure that (expletive) is dead."
"Yes I have."
-- Ford responds to a question by Councillor Denzil Minnen-Wong, "Have you purchased illegal drugs in the last two years?"
In 2005, he went off-the-cuff in his remarks on the transgender community: "I don't understand a transgender. I don't understand, is it a guy dressed up like a girl or a girl dressed up like a guy?"
"I'm not an alcoholic, I'm not a drug addict."
-- Ford denies he has a substance abuse problem following the confirmation of the existence of a video in which he appears to be smoking from a crack pipe.
"We're bringing accountability to City Hall. First time ever."
-- Ford stated on his radio show, "Ford Nation, in May 2013.
"We're going to put an end to the gravy train."
-- Ford uttered this famous line during his victory speech on Oct. 25, 2010.
"With today's announcement, I know I embarrassed everyone in this city and I will be forever sorry. There is only one person to blame for this and that is myself. I know admitting my mistake was the right thing to do and I feel like a thousand pounds have been lifted off my shoulders."
Just a few months before his election in 2010, he was taped in a phone conversation saying, "What does OxyContin go for on the street, so I have an idea?"
"I want to be mayor, I want to be premier and I want to be prime minister."
-- Ford stated in a 2006 interview for Rogers TV
