Santa Barbara captured the Channel League championship with a convincing 57-43 home win over Dos Pueblos. The Dons will head into the playoffs with a 20-4 record.

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. -

Even after a 1-3 start in league, Santa Barbara still believed that they were the best boys basketball team in the Channel League. A convincing 57-43 home win over Dos Pueblos gave the Dons their 8th straight win and more importantly, a league championship.

Emilio Gonzalez and Jeff Paschke each scored 15 points and Jack Baker added 13 as the Dons racked up their 20th win on the season against just four losses.

The Dons led 24-15 at half and blew it open with a big third quarter that saw them increase their advantage to twenty points and never was threatened again. Two years ago Santa Barbara won just two games and now they are league champs.

Dos Pueblos ends up in third place in the Channel League with a 7-5 mark.
