A suspicious powder was mailed to several locations in New York and New Jersey, including at least five hotels near the site of the Super Bowl, according to multiple reports. However, the substances do not appear to be dangerous, the FBI said Friday, according to ESPN.com.

The FBI is continuing to investigate and test the substance, but said the poweder seems to be within normal values.

Neither Super Bowl team appeared to be affected by the incident.

According to ESPN, the Seattle Seahawks left their Jersey City hotel more than three hours before the reports of the discovery of the powder.

A Denver Broncos official told ESPN that their team hotel was not affected and it was business as usual.

Powder also was found in a letter sent to former New York City mayor Rudolph Giuliani's business in midtown Manhattan. It was determined that substance posed no threat, and ESPN's Adam Schefter was told by a law enforcement official that the substance was cornstarch.

The powder from one of the envelopes sent to a hotel tested positive for baking soda, according to reports.

ESPN's Schefter was told by law enforcement officials that they believe the substances were sent by a person who has sent similar substances through the mail before. In each case, it was determined the substance was not dangerous.

A number of people were evaluated at the Hackensack University Medical Center after they came into contact with the letters in question, but there were no injuries or illnesses reported.

The mailings arrived at an Econo Lodge in Carlstadt, N.J., a Homestead Suites hotel in East Rutherford, N.J., and a Renaissance Inn in Rutherford.

Investigators intercepted other envelopes before they reached a Holiday Inn Express and Hampton Inn in Carlstadt.
