Major League Baseball's investigation into the alleged Miami PED case continues, and league officials are encouraged by the progress, according to a CBSSportsline report, citing people who have spoken to the investigators.

However, MLB hasn't scheduled testimony from any the players whose names have surfaced, including New York Yankees injured third baseman Alex Rodriguez and Milwaukee Brewers left fielder Ryan Braun.

MLB investigators have spent hundreds of man hours and millions of dollars on the case involving defunct Miami wellness anti-aging clinic Biogenesis. The league may have gained an advantage by buying Biogenesis documents, sources told CBSSportsline. The league believes in the document's authenticity, though the MLB players union will likely question documents that were produced through a cash transaction.

MLB officials said only that the investigation is ongoing. A union spokesperson hoped the investigation wouldn't extend too long into the season.

MLB has said it will consider immunity for players who can provide information on a case-by-case basis, according to the report, and at least one player already has been presented with this possible option.

In addition to Braun and Rodriguez, the players being investigated are: Washington Nationals pitcher Gio Gonzalez, Texas Rangers outfielder Nelson Cruz, Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Melky Cabrera, Oakland A's pitcher Bartolo Colon, San Diego Padres catcher Yasmani Grandal, Yankees catcher Francisco Cervelli, Seattle Mariners catcher Jesus Montero, Baltimore Orioles infielder Danny Valencia.
