Both Westmont men's and women's basketball came up short in the GSAC tournament, but the biggest prize remains: an NAIA national championship.

MONTECITO, Calif. -

Westmont College earned a number one seed in next week's NAIA Women's Basketball National Tournament in Frankfort, Kentucky. The Warriors will face eighth-seeded Cumberlands of Kentucky in a first-round game next Thursday.

Westmont will enter the 32-team tournament with a 25-4 record. Last year the Warriors advanced to the quarterfinals before losing to Lubbock Christian of Texas.

As for the Westmont men's basketball team, the Warriors are the eleventh overall seed and will play Wednesday against Martin Methodist of Tennessee in a first-round contest in Kansas City.

The Warriors bring a 25-7 record into the 32-team tournament. It marks Westmont's first trip to the national tournament since 2007.
