Westmont women's basketball sweeps major awards in GSAC

Westmont College women's basketball sweeps the major awards in the GSAC as Canitez and Moore get Player and Coach of the Year honors.

MONTECITO, Calif. -

For the second straight season Tugce Canitez is named the Golden State Athletic Conference Player of the year. The Westmont College senior led the league with over 21 points per game and 12 rebounds to help the Warriors go 14-0 in league.

Westmont's Kirsten Moore was named the Coach of the Year for the second consecutive season. The Warriors are 24-3 on the year.

In addition to Canitez, Westmont's Esther Lee and Kelsie Sampson were named All-GSAC.

The Warriors are the top-seeded team in the GSAC Women's Basketball Tournament and will host a semifinal game on Friday night at 7:30 p.m.
