SANTA BARBARA. Calif. -

It was still a sweet homecoming even if the end was a little bitter. Former Santa Barbara resident Ken Hanson was just edged out by fellow American Tyler Farrar in Stage 4 of the Amgen Tour of California that finished up in Santa Barbara.

Farrar traveled the 83.6 mile distance from Santa Clarita to Santa Barbara in a winning-time of three hours, fourteen minutes and nine seconds.

Hanson, who lived in Santa Barbara for five years and just recently moved to San Diego, held a late lead but was caught with about 50 meters left and settled for second.

Hanson is excited for Thursday's Stage 5 which begins in Santa Barbara at 11 a.m. and ends in Avila Beach at around 4 p.m. Hanson is a graduate of Cal Poly.
