Santa Barbara escaped with a 66-63 home win over the Cougars to stay undefeated in the Channel League at 6-0.

Santa Barbara, Calif. -

Jack Baker dominated inside while Isaiah Tapia burned Ventura outside as the Dons slipped by the Cougars 66-63 to move to 6-0 in the Channel League.

Baker just missed out on a monster triple-double as he scored 19 points, pulled down 18 rebounds and blocked 9 shots. Tapia made 6-of-14 three-point attempts to lead Santa Barbara with 20 points.

Baker's second dunk on the night put Santa Barbara up 62-51 early in the fourth quarter but the Cougars rallied to pull within 64-63. But with 7.6 seconds to play, reserve senior Bubby Jake Vernon made two-free throws for the Dons and Ventura missed what would have been a game-tying three-pointer at the buzzer.

Santa Barbara is now 16-2 on the season and is ranked 3rd in the latest CIF Division 3A poll.
