Santa Barbara High School beat Santa Margarita 58-48 to win its first ever SoCal Regional Championship.

ONTARIO, Calif. -

Two championships down, one to go. The Dons added its first-ever Division 3 SoCal Regional title to go along with their CIF championship captured earlier this month.

Amber Melgoza scored a game-high 20 points as the Dons held off Santa Margarita 58-48 to advance to Friday's State title game in Sacramento against Modesto Christian.

Santa Barbara High School led 30-16 at the half but saw their lead trimmed to single digits in both the third and fourth quarters. But in the third, Melgoza and Desirea Coleman hit a couple of big shots and the Dons led 43-30 heading into the fourth quarter.

The Eagles got within six points in the final quarter but Melgoza hit a couple of more key shots and Jada Howard along with Kimberly Gebhardt hit clutch free throws down the stretch to seal the title.

The Dons have now won a program-best 30 wins against just 5 losses.

Friday's game is at 2 p.m. from the Sleep Train Arena where the Sacramento Kings play its home games.
