SANTA BARBARA, Calif. -

Cycling brought Dotsie Bausch a silver medal at the 2012 Olympics and more importantly the sport may have saved her life.

She was the keynote speaker at the annual Women and Girls in Sports Luncheon at the Earl Warren Showgrounds in Santa Barbara.

She told a crowd of more than 500 female athletes that she overcame a severe eating disorder that almost took her life following a promising modeling career in New York City.

Bausch discovered her passion for cycling during recovery.
