Veteran guard Ray Allen will return to the NBA next season rather than retire, ESPN.com reported Saturday.
The 39-year-old Allen has said he'll decide by September whether he wants to come back for a 19th season, but he has indicated privately that he intends to play in 2014-15, according to the report.
Allen could be headed to the Cleveland Cavaliers to play with LeBron James, his teammate the past two seasons with the Miami Heat. But the 10-time All-Star has not yet made a decision on where he will play. It is known that he wants to go to a team that will be a title contender.
"It's August and I don't want to rush to judgment," Allen said at a charity golf outing on Friday. "I want to get to September and see how I really feel."
Last season, Allen averaged 9.6 points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.0 assists and shot 37.5 percent on 3-pointers in 73 regular-season games for the Heat.
