The Pirates lost 3-1 to Citrus Valley in a CIF Division 5 quarterfinal game in Santa Ynez.

SANTA YNEZ, Calif. -

Santa Ynez scored just one run with the bases loaded in the second inning and they failed to score in a first and third no out situation in the fifth inning. Without ever getting the big hit, the Pirates lost at home 3-1 to Citrus Valley in a CIF Division 5 quarterfinal game.

The lone Pirates run came on a bases-loaded walk in the second inning to Zach Snyder that plated Jacob Pritchard.

Citrus Valley tied the game at 1 with a long solo homer in the fourth inning off the bat of Connor McCoy. The Blackhawks took the lead for good in the fifth. With runners on the corners, a baserunner stole second and when the throw went into center, Charles Whitley raced home from third.

Santa Ynez ends up 19-10 on the year after making it to the CIF quarterfinals for a second straight year.
