SBCC Baseball Pitches Their Way Into Sectionals

SBCC will play at Oxnard in the So. Cal Final Four starting this Friday in a best-of-three.

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. -

Pitching and defense has led Santa Barbara City College to its first ever Sectional appearance.

Freshman Justin Bruce and sophomore Tyler Gilbert are each 2-0 in the postseason as the Vaqueros swept their way through the Regional and Super Regional.

Now SBCC will face WSC North champion Oxnard who boasts two terrific starting pitchers as well in Luke Eubank and Patrick Weigel. In high school Eubank pitched Newbury Park to a CIF title and he is undefeated this year at 11-0 with a microscopic earned run average of 0.73. Weigel is a sophomore from St. Bonaventure and is 9-4 on the year.

Santa Barbara and Oxnard split its four games with each other this year. First pitch of this best-of-three series is on Friday is 2 p.m. from Oxnard.
